About Us

Metta Butler, DVM

Dr. Butler originally began working at Stanton Animal Hospital in January of 2011. After 5 years of practice here, she took a brief 5-year change of scenery in Indianapolis then returned in 2020. Dr. Butler is originally from Stuttgart, Arkansas. She grew up on a farm with her 3 sisters (1 twin) and brother then moved to Starkville where she attended both undergrad and Veterinary School at Mississippi State University. She attended University of Missouri in Columbia for a small animal rotating internship where she furthered her education in the areas of Internal Medicine and Surgery.

Her special interests in the field include internal medicine, feline infectious peritonitis, and other infectious diseases.

She spends most of her time away from work with her family: her husband, her 2 daughters and her pets. She has a Labrador retriever named Graff, a soft coated wheaten named Elsie, two guinea pigs-Butter + Biscuit, and a beautiful ragamuffin cat named Lucy. Dr. Butler also includes traveling, exercising, and spending time outdoors.
